Boat trips in St Petersburg, amazing impressions of your big Russian tour

Оne of the well-known nicknames of St. Petersburg is Venice of the North and it got it for a reason. No other city in Russia has so many rivers and canals crossing it in all directions. Moreover, Peter the Great, the city founder at first wanted to use canals as transport arteries of the city as it is in Venice.

The city of Peter was laid on the islands of the Neva Delta, and the canals served to drain the swampy soil and formed its transport system. That is why there are more than a hundred waterways, rivers, tributaries, branches and channels, and all the main sights of St. Petersburg can be seen moving along its waterways.

From the end of April when the Neva river and all other smaller river and canals inside of the city are finally free from the ice and till the end of September or even early October one can ride a fascinating boat trip  along St Petersburg with the loved ones.

The routes of these boat trips are numerous including the ones inside the city,  along the canals, and the other with an access to the open Neva.

For your city tour in St Petersburg we will select the most interesting one at any time of the day or in the evening capturing of part of the night, when you will be able to see one of the most amazing city’s performance which always attracts not only tourists but the inhabitants of the city as well  – the draw bridges on the Neva.

The splendor of the Northern Capital of Russia, another name of St Petersburg is stunning while seeing it from the water. While on a comfortable boat, enjoy a guided water excursion, which includes a story about the city accompanied by breathtaking panoramas, strings of palaces and cathedrals, as well as majestic and elegant bridges spanning the Neva.

Gilded spires, and Rostral columns, the banks of the Neva, embankments dressed in granite – all this awaits you on a boat trip along the rivers and canals of St. Petersburg. You can do this in any weather conditions, because the boat we will book for you will be equipped with both an open and closed warm deck, so that nothing spoils your impressions of a boat trip.

We recommend, if there’s enough time to take two excursions, at a daytime and at night.  And you will  get completely different, but absolutely amazing impressions not only from St Petersburg but from your tour around Russia!

One of the most interesting routes in St Pete starts from the Fontanka river and includes main landmarks of the city. Please have a look at a route: 121 Fontanka River Embankment – Derzhavin Manor – Kryukov Canal – St. Nicholas Naval Cathedral – Mariinsky Theater – New Holland – Kissing Bridge – Moika River – St. Isaac’s Cathedral and Blue Bridge – Green Bridge and Nevsky Prospekt – Winter Groove – Neva River – Hermitage Complex – Peter and Paul Fortress – Summer Garden – Fontanka River – Chizhik-Pyzhik – Mikhailovsky Castle – Anichkov Bridge – Anichkov Palace – Lomonosov Bridge – Bolshoi Drama Theater – Yusupov Palace – Fontanka Embankment, 121.

Of course, this route is one of the “classic” ones.  How about taking a little challenge? In St. Petersburg, you can try sup surfing along canals. Now it’s one of the most fascinating and unusual way to see St. Petersburg from the water.

No doubt, it’s a bit challenging, but you can participate in the walk without prior preparation, everything will be carefully explained on the spot. Riding sups is safe for beginners — a small group is always under the supervision of an experienced instructor, we will organize everything so that everything works out and is safe for you.

One of the sup surfing routes is along Krestovsky Island with an access to Bolshaya Nevka. This is a whole journey, you will swim under bridges, go into backwaters. First, the group swims along a small channel, where the water is calm — there you will learn how to control the board and get up on it. In about an hour you will go out to Malaya Nevka, there is a wave there, but you will swim safely along the shore. You will return safely to the same place where you started from with a real water explorer’s impressions.

How do you like the idea of coming to St. Petersburg as soon as possible and to enjoy the city not only from land but from water as well?

And may be you will have an impression of the city as a beautiful water princess opening its wonderful sea kingdom to you through its rivers and canals during your big Russian tour.
